21 credits to go on my ADN!
Since my very last test of the year, a final last Thursday, I haven't really had much time to let it sink in! We did enjoy a fantastic Saturday evening with a bonfire. We roasted brats, hotdogs, and the guys (who had been hauling liquid manure all day) made steaks over the open flame. They said they were the best steaks they have ever had. In fact my hubby, who usually ruins a good steak with steak sauce, didn't douse it with 57. Amazingly, he still said it was the best steak ever. So, next time we light a fire, I think I may have to try it!
We had quite the light show last night. I had fallen asleep in the recliner while watching tv and woke up to the living room booming and lit up like the 4th of July. I stumbled my way into bed and fell back to sleep immediately, as if the rain was lulling me back to dream land. Four tenths of an inch in the gauge this morning. Not too much, but enough to push the wheat to sprout.
Other than that, I worked all weekend and spent the afternoon today seeding rye grass in the pasture with the kids. The cows came running to check out the sack which contained the forage grass. They thought maybe there were some tasty treats in the bag. Little do they know, in a few weeks, those tiny little bits which were sprinkled in the dirt will be a very tasty treat indeed.
When talking about the cows, one always has to mention the calves, who have been busy playing tag. Occasionally a curious little soul will come up to you and just when you think he/she will allow you to pet them, they take off with their heels in the air going mach 10 the opposite direction. They sure are cute!
